1965 Gibson ES-335

Introduced in 1958, the ES-335 cemented Gibson's reputation for cutting-edge innovation combined with classic traditional design. The thin body was easier for players to hold, the inner block enhanced sustain and reduced feedback, and the new PAF humbucking pickups set a new standard for quiet operation, high output, and sweet, fat tone. Small wonder that the 335 became an instant classic, and has remained one of the world's most popular electric guitars to this day.

The popular cherry finish option, designated TDC ("Thin Double-pickup Cherry finish"), was introduced in 1960, and has remained in production until this day. This guitar has been maintained and in "players" condition, with a fast, easy "C" profile, ideal for those seeking a sleek, elegant playing experience. The upgraded frets are a more modern system for those that like to bend strings and famously easy to play. AThe body and neck are well balanced, and the instrument sits comfortably on the lap or the shoulder. The patent-number pickups are period correct, untouched solder joints, and produce a smooth, high output signal with lots of depth and color.
The instrument has been very well cared for, and shows no cracks, with minimal pick, buckle, thumb and fingerboard wear. Apart from a few random lacquer nicks, and a bit of scattered normal checking, the guitar is in wonderful original condition, and plays superbly, with smooth sweet buttery tone. An outstanding example of one of the most desirable electric guitars of all time.

Guitar Historical Information:

We purchased this guitar from Tim Pierce. If you don't know Tim, he is an amazing West Coast professional guitar player. When Tim received the guitar, it had a replaced pickup in the bridge position and replacement tuners. See the original video of the guitar here. Luckily for us, we had an original 1965 pickup and upon receipt was able to restore the electronics to its original state. We also replaced the the tuners with period correct Kluson double line tuners and updated 10.5mm replacement ferrules. This guitar has been played but loved over the years. This guitar has been gone through and is confirmed from the 1965 era based on all date codes on the guitar. More information and photographs available upon request.
